Most Surprising Team So Far This NFL Season

​The NFL is never short of excitement. So far this season the Peyton Manning-less Denver Broncos are undefeated. Even with Trevor Siemian, a quarterback that had zero in game experience prior to this season, the Broncos have beaten the Panthers, Colts and the Bengals. Carolina on the other hand, have fallen to 1-2. Call it a super bowl hangover if you want, but the Panthers don’t nearly look as unstoppable as they were last season.

​Yet, besides the super bowl teams, the rest of the league has been shocking as well. New England has been tearing it up even without the “Great” Tom Brady. The Patriots are down to their third string quarterback, but still managed to blow out the Houston Texans. Perhaps, it’s just Bill Belichick doing what he does best. Who knows?

Yet, then there is also the AFC North. How is it that neither the the Cincinnati Bengals or the Pittsburgh Steelers are on top of the division. Pump your brakes. Cleveland is not on top. The most exciting thing in Cleveland is Terrelle Pryor. No seriously, Pryor is proving why he should have been dominating in the NFL a long time ago. But, while Cincinnati is trying to reach .500 and the Steelers work Leveon Bell back into the rotation, The Ravens are sitting comfortably at the top. Now that’s surprising.

However, none of these team’s accomplishments are the most surprising that the league has to offer. The most surprising team, plays in the NFC East. Usually, the East is a very sorry division. Well, it still is. The only thing that changed isn’t the fact that the NY Giants have an intense passing attack since Victor Cruz is back, No. We seen just who the Giants are and have always been in their loss to the most surprising team in the NFL right now are the Philadelphia Eagles. Honorable mention to the Minnesota Vikings.

The Eagles are the most surprising team in the league because one, they have scored nearly 30 points in every game and two, dominated the Steelers in Week 3, oh, and that Carson Wentz hype. Given the first two games were against the Browns and the Bears, the fact that the offense is clicking so well, is something to take into account.

Also, the defense has yet to allow more than two touchdowns in any of their first three games. In the week 3 matchup between the Eagles and Pittsburgh. The defense smothered the Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger and the high octane offense only managed to put up 3 points the entire game. Don’t say, oh, they didn’t have Martavis Bryant or Leveon Bell. Well, last time I checked Deangelo Williams was is a pretty exceptional backup to say the least and Sammie Coats is picking up exactly where Bryant left off.

The Eagles defense came to play and they have been all season. Carson Wentz on the other hand has proven something. Let me first say that I have never been on the Wentz ban wagon and the only reason why Wentz, Goff and Paxton Lynch were drafted as high as they were, was because of the way the NFL draft and money works. With saying all of that, Wentz has proved the he was more NFL ready than the other two quarterbacks. I do not take much consideration into beating the Browns or the Bears, but beating the Steelers was a statement. He has so far, thrown for 769 yards, five touchdowns, zero interceptions and a completion percentage of 64.7%. Not bad for a rookie.

Apparently, "(Wentz) is Peyton Manning pre-snap, he's Aaron Rodgers post-snap," NFL Media's Brian Baldinger said via NFL Network. I won’t go that far, but Wentz is doing exactly what he needs to do to win the division. As long as the Eagles can continue to shock the league, Wentz could lead them to a division title and a playoff appearance. One thing is for sure though, Carson Wentz has Philadelphia excited and possibly, Cleveland regretting passing on him.
